The Dreamer

I was lucky enough to be born and raised on a beautiful ranch in Southwest Alberta. I grew up working and living a cowboy life. In high school I met my husband, CoBie, and we have been sweethearts ever since. With our 3 young daughters, we still help run the family ranch, with my Dad, 2 siblings and both of their young families. We lost my mom to ovarian cancer in 2017.

For my 18th birthday, my mom bought me a serger and I started dabbling in wild rags. Mostly because it was hard to find any big enough for the cowboys and what we wanted on the ranch. Soon after, I started giving them as gifts to friends and family, with the occasional request for a wild rag or two.

Somewhere around 2019, I started to branch out from just wild rags, to more of a brand. The first and most prominent collaboration was with Posh Panda, to create cowhair mocs, which had been in the works for almost 3 years. In 2020, it was finally the right time, and they took off with more interest than either of us imagined. Both fashionable and functional, they are still a very loved part of this brand.

DREAMED IT. THEN REAL LIFED IT.

Also around 2020, while looking for a boot manufacturer on Instagram, a happy accident brought me to Rick Torres Terran.  He offered to help me with my own boot company, be my “boots on the ground”, because I was a world away. He helped with everything from leathers to boot boxes and anything in-between. And suddenly there were talented makers handcrafting my designs to life in Mexico.

I’ve always loved custom. It doesn’t matter what it is, I like to customize things and make them just what I want. Boots are no different, I have never truly come across a boot that was THE ONE, and something I really LOVED. But here, the work that we started to do was so exciting. We were just boot strapping our way into an entire boot company. It seemed like the sky was the limit.

But sometimes, the higher you climb, the harder you fall.

ARE YOU GOING TO COWBOY UP OR JUST LAY THERE AND BLEED?

The success of the boots brought many amazing things into my life; people, knowledge, creative growth. But it also brought some things that were too good to be true. Somewhere along the way, my company became someone else’s vision and dream, and what I wanted took a back seat. In a series of small incremental steps, I had lost my way. And I found out the hard way that new levels, mean new devils. And it came tumbling down in the spring of 2024.

When the walls fell in, the money was scary, but the hurt was deeper. I mourned it almost like a death. I rode my horses, and l loved on my family. And truthfully there were many days I thought I would be done. The sheer idea of having to start all over again, but this time in a big hole, was exhausting just to think about. What I had built, took everything I had, and then it was so easily gone.

But my priority has always been to maintain the highest quality with the fairest prices. I want to see people in my boots, and LOVING them. That is what makes me happy and motivates me for the next pair. Not the margin.

So in 2025, with that in mind, I got going again. Rick found a new [amazing] maker in Mexico, I found Alberta Boot Company, and we all pieced it back together again.

With the help of Rick, my family and a few knowledgeable friends, my passion is alive and well. This outlet that I cannot live without it, keeps pushing me forward. One thing is for sure, you don’t get business without struggle. But looking back, I think things happened just the way they were supposed to.

I am proud to say that Rancherr Boot Company is making boots that are second to none, by the best hand craftsmanship in the business. And I couldn’t be more proud of who I have become as a designer and a business women. No pain, no gain.
